Critter Sitters began in Bonita Springs Florida in 1994. I began by walking dogs but soon realized that I could have them come to my home and they would have care 24 hours a day instead of just brief periods of time.
I had two dogs of my own at the time. Fifi, a little black terrier street dog from Chicago and Kayla, a silver Schnoodle (schnauzer, poodle).
In Sept. of 2004 I lost Fifi at the age of 18 and the following Jan. lost Kayla 12 to cancer. I was heart-broken. I searched for a year with no connection for a dog of my own. Thank goodness I had the dogs that vacationed with me.
Sept. of 2005 I had planned a photography trip to North Carolina but Hurricane Katrina had other ideas. Trip was cancelled. I visited the humane societies regularly to find a new furry companion. I went back that same week and out pranced a honey colored little scruffy dog with huge brown eyes that I knew immediately would be coming home with me. She was 10 months old and I named her Katrina. Unfortunately, on June 21, 2022, I had to say good-bye to my girl. She was 18 and a half.
In May of 2013 a friend of mine called and said they had found a little dog that was abandoned in the woods, but they could not keep him. Could I help find a home for him. I picked him up and he bounded out of the crate and snuggled in my lap like that was where he belonged. He was thought to be two or so when he came to our home. Needless to say he is still with us. His name is Mister.
In 2020 I decided to retire, downsize and move to Spring Hill, FL. Retirement is not all it is cracked up to be. I do travel occasionally with my dogs on photography adventures but I miss having other dogs when I am at home.
I have decided to offer my pet sitting services again with my 25 years of experience.
